#75 The Journey. Thoughts from the Back Deck

Paul writes in Philippians 4 verse 13, "I can do all things through him who strengthens me."

I have not written much lately. My journey is one where there are times when I pour out and times when I soak in.

Lately, it's been a season of soaking in. I have spent extra time reading. Reading God's word. Reading devotionals. Reading other books. Less time pouring out. Even health updates have not come easy, but I know people are praying and care, so I don't want people wondering how I am.

One of the books I have been reading through with Michelle is a devotional, "Peace in the Face of Cancer" by Lynn Eib. (It speaks truth even if you don't have cancer!) I think this book should be on every pastor's bookshelf for two reasons: 1. To read. 2. To give away to the many people we encounter going through "The Journey."

In chapter 7, the author shares a personal story from high school. A part of the story references Christopher Robin (Winnie the Pooh).
"I want you to remember this:
You are braver than you believe.
You are stronger than you seem.
You are smarter than you think."

The Journey you are on, at times, will seem difficult.

Christopher Robin is right.

As a person who trusts Jesus, it is important to add:
...and God is much greater than you imagine!

Lynn Eib writes: "I hope you also are discovering that the greatness of God is the reason you are braver, stronger, and smarter than you realized."

As you read this today, you know someone who needs to know they are braver, stronger, and smarter due to the presence and greatness of God, who is on The Journey with them.

Peace out,
Andy
