#67 Food and time together. Thoughts from the Back Deck...

Reflect back on Christmas for a moment. Every household is different but my guess would be you did some things differently around Christmas that you don't do most of the year. Below are some photos of things we did with some captions...
We went to worship together.

We went to see Christmas lights together.

We threw knives and axes in our pajamas and laughed hysterically together. (And the neighbors laughed at us!)

We ate too much and took a few goofy pictures.

We did a puzzle together and somehow lost 6 pieces of the puzzle along the way. We suspect the dogs OR they disappeared into the black hole where matching socks some how loose their match!

We ate meals and talked together.

We sat and talked and laughed and shared moments together.

We made a ginger bead house.

We went shooting together.

We sat by a TV screen fireplace and read books.

We decorated the house. (And the fish).

We went for walks at Bok Tower.

We played games together.

We went to the beach together.

Again, we all did different things around Christmas but to be able to do those things we did something different than normal.

1. We made a conscious decision to make time to do those things.
2. We turned off our TV's and turned towards each other.
3. We put our phones down a lot more than we had them in front of our faces.

"When Jesus reached the spot, he looked up and said to him, “Zacchaeus, come down immediately. I must stay at your house today.” So he came down at once and welcomed him gladly."

Luke 19 is one of many examples where Jesus enters into a person's life and as they spent time together, relationships were built, lives were changed and memories were made. Be it at the house of Mary and Martha, out on a hillside with five loaves and two fish, on the lakeshore with some fish on the grill as a boat of the disciples pulled up to a fire that Jesus had built... God shows us life lived together results in beautiful things happening.

I love movies and I use my phone and work off my laptop a lot but at the end of the day that is not what I want to be remembered for and neither do you.

Now close the screen and go talk with someone!

Peace out,
Andy
