#54 Pray for our leaders! "Thoughts from the Back Deck..."

I couldn't find a picture of our past and present living presidents together except for this coin picture. This is not a political comedy, satire, or commentary. What I am about to say comes from God's word...

1 Timothy 2:1-2
Pray for All People
2 First of all, then, I urge that supplications, prayers, intercessions, and thanksgivings be made for all people, 2 for kings and all who are in high positions, that we may lead a peaceful and quiet life, godly and dignified in every way.

As the ESV bold title states, "Pray for All People."

Supplications: "to bend or stoop. To plead humbly."
Prayers: "Communication with God"
Intercessions: "Entreat. Petition. on behalf of others."
Thanksgiving: "confession, praise, and offering"
...be made for all people!

President Biden?
President Trump?
President Obama?
President Bush?
President Clinton?
President Carter?
Yep.
Yep.
Yep.
Yep.
Yep.
Yep.
Our next president, whoever that might be? Yep.
Senators and Congress? Yep
Judges at all levels? Yep.
Governors and other state officials? Yep.
City and town officials? Yep.
Ukraine leaders? Yep.
Hamas leaders? Yep.
Israel's leaders? Yep
China's leaders? Yep.
Russia's leaders? Yep.
For Fathers of the house? Yep.
For mothers of the house? Yep.
For law enforcement at all levels? Yep.
For even pastors!?! Yep!

Some are not going to like this post. Please don't argue with me or be mad at me! Take it up with the Holy Spirit! I didn't write it or inspire Paul to write it!

This is in the Bible. Why is it important? For once, the answer is right next to the encouragement...

"...that we may lead a peaceful and quiet life, godly and dignified in every way."

Seriously, think about this. If we want ANY of our leaders to fail, what does that say about our hearts?

If we are unwilling to pray, especially for people we don't like or agree with, what does that say about our hearts?

Friends, if anything, let me encourage you in the same way Paul did, who was under severe persecution and has faced the sword, stonings, being beaten, people going out of their way to attack and lie and belittle and falsely accused...

If anything, let me encourage you in the same way Jesus encouraged through word and deed as he lived his life. The one who suffered persecution, faced the sword, was beaten, had people lie about him and attack him and belittle him and accuse him falsely, and suffered and died... for the US any
way!

Can't we all agree that to "lead a peaceful and quiet life, godly and dignified in every way" is the best way?

Thy Kingdom come, thy will be done!
Peace out!
Andy
