#34 Inconceivable!. Thoughts from the Back Deck...
Words are important. It's important that your words and mine express love as we have been loved by Jesus. Jesus we see helps us and his disciples use words like love, grace, and mercy. When a couple of the disciples voice to Jesus, that maybe some people in a village should have lightning rain down on them, Jesus voices his view on that in a loving way. When a bunch of men shouting, bring a woman to be stoned, Jesus speaks in a loving way and changes their minds.
Philippians 1:9-10
And it is my prayer that your love may abound more and more, with knowledge and all discernment, so that you may approve what is excellent, and so be pure and blameless for the day of Christ...
As important as it is to speak, to use our voice, there is a reminder for us that speech should and does communicate actions.
Too often I find myself hearing about "love" but the voices shouting (and that word is used on purpose), are shouting in anger. Voices shouting out love but calling for compulsory behavior and acceptance. Voices shouting out love as they make demands. Is it just me or doesn't this line up?
I can't help but think about love as described in 1st Corinthians 13, Love is patient and kind; love does not envy or boast; it is not arrogant or rude. It does not insist on its own way; it is not irritable or resentful; it does not rejoice at wrongdoing, but rejoices with the truth. Love bears all things, believes all things, hopes all things, endures all things.
If you talk about love or hear someone else talk about love and it does not bear witness to the description above, you may not be really talking about or hearing about what actually love is.
"...that your love may abound more and more..."
Abound: to have in large numbers or amounts.
Jesus in inconceivable amounts and ways shows and speaks his love in thoughts, words, and deeds.
If in doubt, let us look at how Jesus showed and spoke about love. Let us ABOUND in the knowledge of Jesus over all other things. That knowledge will always guide us on the best and right path.
Anything else is...
