#11 Acceptance of life situations is not natural. Welcome to Thoughts From The Back Deck...
Psalm 95 (ESV)
Oh come, let us worship and bow down; let us kneel before the Lord, our Maker! For he is our God, and we are the people of his pasture, and the sheep of his hand. Today, if you hear his voice, do not harden your hearts, as at Meribah, as on the day at Massah in the wilderness, when your fathers put me to the test and put me to the proof, though they had seen my work.
Worship is acceptance,
Bowing down is acceptance,
Kneeling is acceptance,
Recognizing we are people of God's pasture is acceptance,
Being "sheeple" is acceptance,
Not hardening our hearts is acceptance,
Not testing God is acceptance,
...acceptance that the LORD is God and that we are not!
Why the death of children in Hawaii?
Why the property destruction in the wake of Idalia?
Why the shooting in Jacksonville?
Why the violence in our cities and schools?
Why the corruption that seems everywhere and never-ending?
When I get overwhelmed, the only way I can move forward is to go back to the beginning! The LORD says to us: "Oh Come," in one way or another...
- To Adam and Eve: Oh come, and I clothe you
- To Joseph's family as famine set in: Oh come, and I provide for you
- To the people in slavery in Egypt: Oh come, for I break chains
- To the people of Israel again and again and again as they fell back into sin and disbelief: Oh come, I forgive you!
- To the lost: Oh come, for I found you. I know you.
- To those that Mourn: Oh come, I dry your tears.
WE SEE THE WORK OF THE LORD.
and so we come to Him, who first came to us, who first loved us, who redeemed us by His son, who is God and understand we are not!
